2. Education System of Singapore

Singapore has four national universities. Then there are polytechnics which offer tertiary education through diploma courses, which are practical courses with plenty of group work. Diplomas are offered in Tourism, Biotechnology, Digital Media, Engineering, Business Studies, Mass Communications, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management. The five polytechnics of Singapore are Nanyang Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, and Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

3. Cost of Study in Singapore for International Students

The cost of education and living in are at least 30 per cent less than that of in the UK or US. All this makes it a very attractive destination our students. 4. Cost of Living in Singapore for International Student

5. Work Opportunities in Singapore for International Students

5.1 Part-Time Work during Course

Foreign students are not allowed to engage in any form of employment in Singapore, whether during term time or vacation time, unless they are granted Work Pass exemption under the Employment of Foreign Manpower (Work Pass Exemptions) Notification. The details of the exemption notification, which includes foreign students on vacation and part time employment of foreign students, are shown below.

  • Exemption Notification: Foreign Students on Vacation a Work Pass is not required for a foreign student if he/she is of 14 years of age or above, on vacation, and a full-time matriculated or registered student in one of the institutions approved by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
  • Exemption Notification: Part-time Employment of Foreign Students a Work Pass is not required for a foreign student if he/she works a maximum of 16 hours a week and is a full-time matriculated or registered student in one of the institutions approved by MOM.

5.2 Full Time Job Opportunities after Course for International Students

After completion of studies in Singapore, student can apply for a job search visa for Singapore which is given for 6 months. During this period students are eligible to work full-time in any field until he/she gets a proper job offer.

After getting a job offer, he/she would have to apply for e-pass (Employment Pass) which would give the applicant eligibility to work full-time in any field.

You would be eligible to apply for Singapore Permanent Residence once you start earning at least SGD 3,000 per month. Processing time for PR is only 73 days.

6. Visa Process for Singapore

Students planning to pursue studies in Singapore and whose application is accepted by educational institute (valid for 2 weeks) are required to get Student’s Pass. Students who require Singapore Visa are required to apply for Student’s Visa to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) 2 months before the commencement of the course.

6.1 Proof of financial sources:

As per the Singapore student visa rules, candidate has to show funds which must be minimum 1 day old from date of visa application. If the funds are as fixed deposit then, bank must issue a letter confirming the availability of same. Bank letter must be dated less than 30 days from the date of visa application.

Funds to be shown = Tuition fee + 8400 SGD

6.2 Documents Required to Apply for Student Visa for Singapore

  • International student application form
  • Passport
  • One Passport size photo (less than 6 months old)
  • Visa application fee
  • Bank Statements - ORIGINAL for the last 28 days from all sponsors
  • Transcripts (Mark sheets -from 10th class till the last degree obtained)
  • Affidavit of Support to be given by the sponsor on Rs.20 stamp paper (non-judicial)
  • Work experience certificate
  • Fixed Deposit Receipts (if necessary)
  • 1Bank loan sanction letter (if necessary) 

Applicants are encouraged to submit application at least 2 months before the commencement of the course. If the required documents are not in the English language, officially translated versions as well as copies in the originally language are required.
